Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity – New York City

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and New York City's Lutheran community are funding an affordable home in Habitat-NYC's 41-unit Atlantic Avenue complex in Ocean Hill-Brownsville. Through a unique challenge grant, Thrivent Financial will provide matching funds on a 6 to 1 basis for donations by Thrivent Financial members or by Lutherans. If you are a Thrivent Financial member or part of a Lutheran congregation, we invite you to join us for Thrivent/Lutheran-specific volunteer and fundraising opportunities supported through this initiative.

Lutheran Young Adults Build

Habitat-NYC will host our first-ever Lutheran Young Adults Build, a one-day volunteer event that brings together Lutheran young adults from all walks of life to raise hammers and funds to create homes for families in need. Join in this unique volunteer opportunity for men and women (21 and older), where you'll have fun and make a difference by supporting and building the Thrivent home in Ocean Hill-Brownsville.

When you sign up to raise a hammer, you also commit to raise a minimum of $250 that Thrivent will match on a 6 to 1 basis. That means Thrivent will donate $1,500 for every $250 you raise! Raising your sponsorship is easy, with the help of our online fundraising tool. This tool will help you create a personalized e-mail campaign to raise support through friends, family and colleagues. Due to the size of the building—and to insure site safety—we can only accommodate 40 volunteers on site. So, be one of the first 40 to raise your $250 by Friday, June 13 in order to secure your spot.
