BOARD OF DIRECTORS Habitat-NYC has a highly engaged Board of Directors composed of members with diverse backgrounds and expertise. The Board has a vital leadership role in making strategic decisions about the immediate and longer-range direction of Habitat-NYC, as well as identifying and obtaining essential financial support. Peter Knitzer, Chair Peter Knitzer is the Executive Vice President and President of E*TRADE Bank, where he manages the company's loan and investment portfolios. He previously served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Citibank North America and member of Citigroup's Management Committee and the Global, Consumer Planning Group. Prior to joining Citi, he worked for the cards businesses of both Chase Manhattan Bank and American Express. His work experience includes packaged-goods brand marketing at Nabisco Brands, Inc. He has been active with Habitat-NYC for more than a dozen years, and joined the Board of Directors in 2008. Peter received his M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from Columbia University and completed his undergraduate work at Brown University. He lives in New York City with his wife and their two children. Karim Hutson, Vice Chair Karim Hutson is the Managing Partner and Founder of Genesis Partners, where he oversees the company's development and acquisitions efforts and is actively involved in plotting the strategic growth of Genesis and its efforts in the area of sustainable and smart design. Since founding Genesis in 2004, Karim has engaged the firm in over $60 million of development activity equating to the creation of close to 200 residential units and several retail facilities within the firms residential buildings. Prior to founding Genesis, he was an investment banker with Goldman Sachs in New York City and a private equity investor with General Atlantic in Greenwich, Connecticut. Mr. Hutson received a B.A. in philosophy and economics from Amherst College in Massachusetts and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. A graduate of the National Outdoor Leadership School, Karim is an avid hiker, enjoys tennis and actively volunteers his time for nonprofit organizations focused on education and housing. He is also a member of the U.S. Green Building Council-NY and the Urban Land Institute. David Terveen, Vice Chair David Terveen is the President and owner of DK Display Corp. in Manhattan. DK Display designs, markets and supplies mannequins and visual merchandising tools for department stores and designers in North America and other Global Markets. Prior to opening DK Display in 1995, David held executive management positions for Store Fixture and Point of Purchase designers/manufacturers in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and Minneapolis. He attended Northwestern College in Roseville, MN, and North Park College in Chicago, IL, studying Speech, Drama, Education, Psychology and Christian ED. David is excited to bring his ideas, experience, time, and energy to Habitat for Humanity - New York City. Christine A. McGuinness, Secretary Christine McGuinness is a partner at Schiff Hardin LLP. Her practice is concentrated on real estate, with a focus on corporate finance, commercial lending and financial institutions. Her work often involves matters combining real property and corporate elements as well as equity and debt financings. Some of her pro bono activities include representing the Leviticus Fund in connection with the financing of low-income housing and day care centers. Christine received her B.A. from Fairfield University and her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. Zali Win, Treasurer Zali Win is a managing director at Crédit Agricole, where he works with commodity marketing and distribution clients, primarily in the energy sector. Prior to joining the bank four years ago, he had similar responsibilities at BNP Paribas for nearly 15 years. His experience with financial institutions includes commercial and residential real estate development financing. Zali has worked as a volunteer for nonprofit and educational organizations for more than 25 years. He has served as the president of the Kenyon College Alumni Associations of Boston and New York and on its Alumni Council and played a major role in establishing the corporate development efforts of Fenway Community Health Center in Boston and the New Vinland Foundation. Zali also re-established Little Ones Learning Center, a pre-primary childhood literacy program, and Friends of Pariaman, a micro-loan and charitable organization in West Sumatra, Indonesia. He currently serves as Secretary/Treasurer of Rondout-Esopus Land Conservancy in Ulster County, NY. He is a graduate of Kenyon College and received an MBA from Babson College. Jennifer A. Armstrong Jennifer Armstrong is a consultant for CIT Inc., a bank holding company with more than $35 billion in finance and leasing assets. Prior to this, Jennifer spent 23 years in banking with Citigroup and Bankers Trust, working in both consumer banking and corporate banking. She has focused her career on business development with the expansion of the US consumer group and using outside partnerships for distribution. In addition she spent nine years in the securities industry managing the Global network to buy and sell securities for large institutions. Jennifer sits on the Board for the New York Woman's Agenda as their past president. She was on the NCEE as a board member focusing on educating children in economics. She is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and resides in Manhasset, New York. Neil Bader Neil Bader is Director of Retail Sales for Guaranteed Home Mortgage Company, Inc., a national residential mortgage investment and banking firm. He previously served as an Area Manager for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in New York, where he was responsible for the Private Mortgage Bank, Retail Mortgage Lending, Home Credit Solutions and Reverse Mortgage Lending. Before joining Wells Fargo, he was the Chief Executive Officer of IPI-Skyscraper Mortgage, which at the time of its sale in 2001, was the nations largest mortgage brokerage. Neil has frequently appeared on radio and television, including the Today Show, ABC Nightly News, CNBC and Bloomberg for his expertise in housing and mortgage trends. Neil is a graduate of the University of Rochester. A New York native, he lives with his wife and children on Manhattan's Upper East Side. Evan Bauer Evan Bauer serves as Vice President and Enterprise Architect for DealerTrack, Inc. He has over 30 years of experience in the architecture, design, implementation and maintenance of complex information systems. Previously, Evan served as an adviser to the board of the Open Source Development Lab and was the founding CTO of the Collaborative Software Initiative and worked as an independent consultant advising both public and private sector organizations on IT architecture, strategy, best practices, and innovation. He has been a volunteer with Habitat-NYC for over a decade, serves on the Brooklyn Community Leadership Committee of its Board and is a founding member of its Community Builder Society. He sits on the advisory board to the Computer and Information Systems Department of LaGuardia Community College of the City University of New York. He is webmaster for his wife, novelist Joan Bauer. Rodneyse Bichotte Rodneyse Bichotte is the State Committee member of the 42nd Assembly District in Brooklyn, where she is dedicated to improving the neighborhoods and lives of her fellow Brooklyn residents. Prior to relocating back to New York City, her professional career in engineering carried her to Chicago, Japan, and China for several years at Lucent Technologies before she returned home to work on Wall Street as a corporate and investment banker, now at American Express. Prior to banking, she taught math in the New York State public school system. Rodneyse currently serves on Turning Point Board and CUP Leadership Board. She received her MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a BS in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering from SUNY Buffalo. She has been a member and advocate of Habitat for Humanity across the United States for more than 20 years. Alatia Bradley Alatia Bradley, a native of Dallas, Texas, has been in the ad sales/publishing business for 15 years at Rolling Stone, Vogue, The New Yorker and Vanity Fair. Prior to that Alatia was a political fundraiser in New York City. Her first job in New York was with Lou Rudin's public/private partnership, The Association for a Better NY (ABNY). Alatia has been committed to social justice causes for many years. Over her 20-plus years in New York City, she has volunteered for a variety of AIDS-related charities in NYC and created a young associates committee for The Henry Street Settlement, where she organized an annual fundraiser. Currently, Alatia’s focus has been on Little Hill Alina Lodge, a drug and alcohol treatment center in New Jersey, and on Choate Rosemary Hall in Conneciticut. Robert L. Burch Robert L. Burch IV, has been a General Partner of A.W. Jones Company since 2003. He received a B.A. summa cum laude from Princeton, an M.Sc. with Distinction from Oxford and an M.B.A. from Harvard. His work experience prior to A.W. Jones has included management consulting at Booz, Allen & Hamilton and product management at a startup telecommunications company. He is also the General Partner of A.W. Jones Concentrated, LP. Robert was born and raised in New York City. Ron Darling Ron Darling is a Mets game and studio analyst with SportsNet New York (SNY). In his first season with SNY, he won an Emmy Award for best "Sports Analyst". He has served as a commentator and analyst for the Washington Nationals, Fox Sports Net, The Best Damn Sports Show Period, the National Sports Report, CSTV and Baseball Today. He spent nine seasons as a starting pitcher for the New York Mets and was a key member of their 1986 World Championship and 1988 Division Champion teams. He has also pitched for the Montreal Expos and the Oakland Athletics. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, he attended Yale University, where he was a two-time All-American - leading the Bulldogs to two Ivy League titles. He has helped build affordable homes with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans and New York City. He currently resides with his family in Brooklyn. Dr. Michael Dean Dr. Michael Dean is a board certified physician with extensive experience in both family medicine and medical management. He began his career in private practice, but actively sought out additional leadership roles. For several years he served as Vice President for Medical Affairs at his local community hospital, then left to follow his increased interest in administrative health care. He acted as Chief Medical Officer for several large health care organizations, including John Hancock and Prudential, then went on to help establish ChubbHealth in New York City and an independent physicians association, serving as its president. Since retiring, he has become active in a number of philanthropic institutions. He is a graduate of Hunter College and SUNY Downstate Medical Center. Charisse Ford Charisse Ford is the Vice President of Global Skincare Marketing for the Estée Lauder Brand. Notable achievements include her role in the creation of the first global cross category franchise for the Lauder Brand. Before joining the company, she worked at Avon Products, Inc., where she received several industry accolades for new product launches and in 2005 was selected by YMCA to receive the Black Achievers in Industry award. Though she is a Chicago native, she currently resides in New York City, where she mentors a 16-year-old high school student with the Student Sponsor Partners organization. She has also been actively involved with such organizations as RYSE and Big Brother/Big Sister. She received her M.B.A from the J. L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and her B.A. from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Carmen Gellineau Carmen E. Gellineau is an Executive Director on the Institutional Fixed Income Sales team at JPMorgan Securities, Inc. July 5, 2009 marked her 14th year with the firm. She started in Operations reporting the firm's security holdings to the Federal Reserve Bank. After a year, she moved to the Fixed Income Edit Desk as a Trader's Assistant and where her passion for the markets and the energy of the trading floor developed. After three years on the desk, she took a research position for Asset-Back Securities and Collateralized Debt Obligations, two fairly new asset classes at the time. Shortly after the merger with Chase she moved into Sales where she currently works today. She graduated cum laude from Howard University's School of Business with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing. In college, Carmen spent summers interning at GE Capital in Connecticut via the INROADS program, where she realized her interest in finance. Throughout her career, she has mentored teenage girls and been involved in philanthropic organizations like "First Choice." Candace George, Habitat-NYC Family Partner Homeowner Candace George is the mother of five (Soudea, Pryce-Gary, Elizabeth, Elijah and Daniel) and a Habitat-NYC homeowner in Brooklyn since 2003. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, she emigrated to the United States and worked her way through high school while experiencing homelessness. She graduated from John Jay College with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in 1994, and has worked for the City of New York for over 15 years, currently in a supervisory capacity. She has been consistently involved in local community activities, with responsibilities ranging from organizing workplace events to Title I Representative to President of the PTA. She has also remained extremely active with Habitat-NYC, participating in advocacy, building and outreach events and severing on various committees. In 2009, she and her family were presented with Habitat-NYC's Family Partner of the Year award. Aileen Gribbin Aileen Gribbin is a partner with Forsyth Street Advisors. She currently advises both for- and not-for-profit organizations on developing, rehabilitating and preserving affordable housing in New York City. She has also been concentrating on incorporating green building measures, including mixed-use affordable housing with LEED certifications. Her almost 20 years of experience with housing and community development include working as an Associate Commissioner with the NYC Department of Housing, Preservation and Development. Aileen holds an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University's Stern School of Business, a Master of Urban Planning degree in Housing Policy from Hunter College and a B.S. in Resource Economics from Cornell University. J. Christopher Hoeffel Chris Hoeffel is the Global co-head of the Commercial Mortgage Department at Investcorp International, where he is responsible for all of the firm's commercial mortgage principal transactions, including origination, marketing, securitization and syndication of Commercial real estate investments in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Before taking over management of the department in 1995, he was a member of the Real Estate Investment Banking group at Bear Stearns. Prior to joining Bear Stearns in 1993, Chris was employed with Eastdil Realty, Inc. in New York where he was responsible for principal-oriented transactions for the firm and its clients. Previously, he was a loan production officer with Walker & Dunlop, Inc., a commercial mortgage banking firm in Washington, D.C. Chris has a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America's Commercial Board of Governors, a member of the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association (CMSA) Board of Governors (where he also serves on the Executive Committee), a member of the Real Estate Roundtable and a member of the Real Estate Finance Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY). Jeffrey Infusino Jeffrey Infusino is a senior partner at Oliver Wyman Financial Services, a business unit of the Oliver Wyman Group, a global management consultancy. OW-FS serves financial services clients and government entities/regulators by solving complex business performance problems. Jeff has focused on serving US-based and global multi-national companies located in developed and developing countries. He helps clients improve performance through strategy development, business model transformation, organization restructuring, marketing strategy and branding, cost-management and reengineering. Much of his work is implementation-focused to help accelerate change and performance improvements. Jeff brings almost 25 years of consulting experience. He graduated with a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also holds a B.S. in Management from MIT's Sloan School and an M.B.A. from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. John S. Isaacs John S. Isaacs joined CB Richard Ellis as an Executive Vice President in November 2005. During his 24 years in the commercial real estate industry, John has successfully arranged over 26 million square feet of transactions, representing a wide range of public and private corporations and owners in multifaceted assignments in the New York metropolitan area and throughout the U.S. Prior to joining CBRE, he established himself as one of Cushman & Wakefield's top producers during his seven-year tenure. In 2009, he completed a 100,000-square-foot transaction on behalf of ImClone Systems Inc., as the anchor tenant in East River Science Park, the first world-class research and laboratory development in NYC. He was awarded a national exclusive with IDS USA, to expand a three million-square-foot portfolio throughout the U.S which included 1.8 million square feet of transactions in Mira Loma and Chino, CA, the largest transactions in the state of California. In 2008, he was awarded Most Creative Deal of the year by SL Green Realty Corp for a transaction on behalf of RSM McGladrey. Over the years, John has represented a multitude of companies such as Cole Haan (Nike Inc.), Pernod Ricard USA, Vestar Capital Partners, PB Capital Corporation and Salvatore Ferragamo. Rabbi Robert Kaplan Bob Kaplan is the founding director of C.A.U.S.E. – NY (formally know as the New York Center for Community and Coalition Building), a division of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, the central coordinating and resource body for 62 major Jewish organizations in the metropolitan New York area. Under Rabbi Kaplan's leadership, the organization has been instrumental in developing and consulting to many community-based coalitions and community-building initiatives, such as the Northern Queens Health Coalition, Project C.A.R.E. (Crown Heights), the Greater Southern Brooklyn Health Coalition, the Coalition for Far Rockaway, the Lower Manhattan Health Care Coalition and Bronx Women Moving Our World, among others. He has served as a member of and a consultant to the NYC Board of Education Chancellor's Interfaith Commission, President Clinton's White House Conference on Race and the Plenary Committee for the United Nations Conference, Habitat II. Rabbi Kaplan studied at Empire State College and Yeshiva Chaim Berlin and received his rabbinical ordination in 1984. Shauna Rae Long Shauna Rae Long, who currently serves as Outside Counsel with the Legal Division of FUJIFILM Holdings America Corporation , has an extensive background in non-profits. Her background includes Chief Legal Officer/Corporate Compliance Officer of Fidelis Care New York, a non-profit health plan with a mission to provide access to quality, affordable health coverage to uninsured residents, and Vice President of Strategic Agency Services for The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York. Prior to working at Catholic Charities, Shauna was Legal Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for Health Plus, one of the largest managed health care plans in New York City. Prior to that, she was a partner in a private law firm, focusing her practice in health care law. Shauna is a member of the Bar in New York, California and Michigan and a Board Member for Youth-Bridge New York and Incarnation Children's Center. She is a regular builder here in New York City and has built houses with the Jimmy Carter Work Project in India, South Africa, Alabama, Michigan and Mexico. Shauna holds a B.A. from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of San Francisco's School of Law. Peter J. Murray Peter Murray is a Partner with C&C Affordable Management, responsible for new business and investment opportunities. Prior to joining C&C, he was the development partner for Loewen Development. During his 20 years at Loewen, Mr. Murray completed 23 developments (mostly affordable) with over 1,800 housing units as well as ancillary commercial space. The total dollar value of these developments far exceeds $300,000,000. As the development partner, Mr. Murray oversaw acquisition, municipal approvals, financing, loan administration and marketing. Mr. Murray has a BA in Political Science and Urban Studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a JD from the University of Miami School of Law. Mr. Murray is admitted to the Florida and New York Bar and is an Executive Board Member of the New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH). Lee Olesky Lee Olesky is the CEO and co-founder of Tradeweb. He has an extensive background in managing both investment banking and financial technology companies, in a career highlighted by innovation and the successful introduction of a series of electronic trading companies. Prior to joining Tradeweb, he was the President and founder of BrokerTec, an electronic brokerage platform. He has worked at Credit Suisse First Boston in a variety of management positions, and was named one of the "Top Global Executives and Innovators in Financial Technology" by Institutional Investor magazine for the last four years. He has served on a variety of boards and currently serves on the boards of Data Explorers and the British-American Business Council (BABC). He has a JD from George Washington University and a B.A. in History from Tulane University. Lee has lectured at leading academic institutions, including Cambridge University and University of California, Berkeley business schools and has provided expert testimony to the US Congress and various regulatory authorities. Presently, he lives in New York City with his wife and three sons. Martha Parrish Martha Parrish currently serves as a Board member of the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA). She recently retired from working at her own gallery that specialized in mid-19th to early 20th Century American art. Martha's career began in journalism, where she was an editor for Palm Beach Post and later for the Palm Beach Daily News. She then moved on to become the director of Palm Beach Galleries, a local art gallery, which gave her a well-rounded background in managing galleries and producing exhibitions. Her experience led her to joining the staff of Hirschl & Adler Galleries, a well-known gallery in New York City, where she served as the director of European art. In 1991, Martha opened up her own gallery and stayed there until she retired. Douglas L. Paul Doug Paul is a Vice Chairman of Credit Suisse First Boston, a global investment bank, and is a member of the management committee of the Fixed Income Division. He has been with the firm for 35 years and represents CSFB with both sovereign and corporate clients throughout the world. He serves as a board member of the Credit Suisse First Boston Foundation and is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Doug received his B.A. in English Literature from Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business. Douglas Renfield-Miller Doug Renfield-Miller recently retired as Executive Vice President of Ambac Financial Group and Chairman and CEO of Ambac Assurance UK Limited. Prior to joining Ambac in 2000, he spent 13 years as an investment banker at UBS working in both New York and Zurich. Doug serves on the board of School Year Abroad, where he chairs the Philanthropy Council and is a Trustee Emeritus of Connecticut College. He received his B.A. in French and Philosophy from Connecticut College, an M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University and holds an M.B.A. from Stanford. Doug also is an ordained Elder at the Brick Presbyterian Church. Nia Rock Nia Rock is Vice President and Community Reinvestment Officer with Sovereign Bank and manages the bank's CRA Compliance initiatives throughout New York and New Jersey. With an extensive career in Banking and Real Estate finance, Nia's primary expertise is in Community and Economic Development lending and product development. She also serves as director on the boards of various housing, community and economic development organizations and is a leader in a number of strategic initiatives throughout the region. She holds a B.A. in economics from Bard College and is presently pursuing graduate study at New York University's Real Estate Institute. Rev. Thomas Synan The Rev. Thomas N. Synan is a Priest Associate at the Church of the Heavenly Rest in New York City. Among his responsibilities, he oversees the outreach programs of his church, which include several feeding programs, a homeless shelter and a variety of ministries in East Harlem. He is also a Clergy Liaison with the New York City Police Department. Following the tragic events of September 11th, he assisted throughout the rescue and recovery effort as an on-site chaplain at Ground Zero and was a participant in several documentaries about it. Father Synan is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University Law Center and Yale University's Divinity School. Judy Teeven Judy Teeven is the Vice President of New Product Development (NPD) & Customer Experience for American Express Travel. During her 20 year tenure with American Express, Judy has held a diverse set of roles in Operations, Sales, Marketing and New Product Development with the Consumer Card and Consumer Travel Divisions. Most recently, she spent three years as Vice President of the Costco and JetBlue Card Co-brand Card Portfolios, where she had responsibility for overseeing the advertising, marketing, acquisition and loyalty strategies to grow the card portfolios as well as managing the relationships with Costco and JetBlue. Prior to American Express, Judy held a number of positions at Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and Wilmington, Delaware. Rev. Dr. Johnny Ray Youngblood Rev. Dr. Youngblood, the Executive Pastor of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, is recognized nationally for his work with East Brooklyn Congregations and is credited with leading the Nehemiah Housing Project, which has built 2,900 single family owner-occupied homes in Brooklyn. Prior to leading Mt. Pisgah’s congregation, Dr. Youngblood pastured the St. Paul Community Baptist Church, where he served for 35 years. The 1993 book, Upon This Rock: The Miracles of a Black Church, chronicles Dr. Youngblood’s life and is a staple in divinity schools across the nation. Dr. Youngblood has designed a socially relevant ministry and is renown for his intentional ministry to black men. He is the founder of the St. Paul Community Christian School (renamed The Johnny Ray Youngblood Academy in March 2007) and creator of The Commemoration of the MAAFA, which pays tribute to the millions of African men, women and children who were lost in the Mid-Atlantic slave trade. Dr. Youngblood received his Doctorate of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.
