Building Common Ground for Housing
Habitat for Humanity – New York City's mission is to transform lives and our city by building quality homes for families in need and by uniting all New Yorkers around the cause of affordable housing. Since our founding in 1984, Habitat-NYC has built more than 180 affordable homes throughout the five boroughs.
But it is still not enough. Unfortunately, the need for decent, affordable housing is far greater than any single organization can meet. That is why we challenge governments, corporations and faith institutions to all do their part to solve the housing crisis here in New York City and around the world.
That is also why we need your help. Not only do we need your hands to help us build homes for families in need, but we also your voice to help us build a movement for social justice. Here are the steps you can take now to help us build housing justice for all New Yorkers.
Step 1: Read our housing policy
platform, the Housing Covenant. The Housing Covenant represents Habitat-NYC’s vision of a just housing policy
for all New Yorkers. The 2009 Covenant lays out this vision and guides our annual
advocacy agenda.
Step 2: Take action through the
Housing Justice Action Center.
