In addition to our ongoing homebuilding and Brush with Kindness projects, Habitat for Humanity New York City currently has volunteer opportunities for groups or individuals to assist with demolition work on Staten Island to help families affected by Hurricane Sandy.



Habitat NYC and Lowe’s Team Up for National Women Build Week to Help a Staten Island Family Affected by Superstorm Sandy
More than 20 women, including longtime Habitat volunteer and actress Emily Bergl, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity New York City on Saturday, May 4 in recognition of National Women Build Week. Together, the volunteers helped remove debris from a Staten Island home that was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.

Habitat NYC Volunteers Honored by New York Mets
A total of 300 Habitat NYC volunteers formed a human house on Citi Field as part of the New York Mets Opening Day ceremony, which honored heroes and volunteers who played an integral role in the response to Hurricane Sandy.

Habitat for Humanity New York City will be a host of the 30th annual Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project in October 2013. Each year, President and Mrs. Carter lead volunteers for a week in building safe, quality and affordable housing.
