National Service
Habitat-NYC AmeriCorps members commit to serve 1700 hours of service (11 months) leading and training volunteers, family partners and community organizations in the construction of homes. Responsible individuals with an energetic attitude, excellent interpersonal skills, some construction/architectural and/or engineering background and a strong interest in community development are ideal. The four main objectives of AmeriCorps are: Getting things done Strengthening communities Encouraging member responsibility Expanding member opportunity Service Term: Members must complete 1700 hours of service, approximately 11 months of full-time (40 hours per week) service. Members serve from August to July. Applications for consideration are accepted from March to July. Benefits of Service While in service, AmeriCorps members receive: A modest living allowance and basic health insurance. An education award of $4,725 is granted upon successful completion of the AmeriCorps service year. For more information about our application process click here |
