AmeriCorps*National Direct  |  Application Process

Thank you for your interest in AmeriCorps at Habitat for Humanity -
New York City. You are about to embark on what we hope will be an extremely rewarding experience. At Habitat for Humanity - New York City, AmeriCorps volunteers play an essential role in uniting, advocating and transforming the lives of families and individuals we serve within New York City.

There are several AmeriCorps positions to meet your interests and skills. Our members come from all over the country, and all walks of life, bringing a variety of experiences, skills, and interests to Habitat-NYC. What they all have
in common is concern for the community, quality of life issues and the desire to reach out to help families.

Here are a few things to know before you
complete our application:
AmeriCorps*National Direct is an 11-month commitment requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. Please consider this time commitment to ensure this is the right commitment level
for you.

› As an AmeriCorps member you will receive a small living allowance, a monthly Metro Card (public transportation pass) and assistance in finding housing, if needed.

› Please read about our program to learn more about our program requirements, expectations, trainings and benefits.

› If you believe this is the program for you, please complete an online application by scrolling down to “Apply Now.”

› Once your application is received we will contact you within 2 weeks and discuss Habitat for Humanity - New York City current needs and open positions and your interests and skills. An interview will be requested if we both feel this is a good match.

› At the interview, you will be asked to complete basic paperwork, and will learn more about our program goals, objectives and the AmeriCorps position. Please include a copy of your resume. You will have the opportunity to speak with other AmeriCorps members and will meet with an AmeriCorps program administrator and the position supervisor.

› We will notify you within 60 days if you are selected as an AmeriCorps member. Please be advised there are limited positions available, and that we truly appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to serve.

› Although all AmeriCorps positions begin in late August, Habitat-NYC begins AmeriCorps orientation in mid-July.
