Join Women Build 2008
Habitat for Humanity - New York City is pleased to announce our Sixth Annual
Women Build event on Saturday, May 3, 2008.
Join in this unique volunteer opportunity for women and girls (16 and older), where you’ll have fun and make a difference by supporting and building decent, affordable housing in New York City. Working on a Habitat-NYC Women Build construction site is a great way to network, make new friends and work alongside women skilled in construction. You'll meet diverse, friendly and talented people, have the opportunity to work together on an exciting project and master skills you might otherwise never learn.
When you sign up to raise a hammer on the Women Build day, you also commit to raise a minimum of $250 that helps finance the construction of the Women Build home. Raising your sponsorship is easy, with the help of our new online fundraising tool.
Due to the size of the building — and to ensure site safety — we can only accommodate 40 women volunteers on site. So if you’d like to be a part of Women Build 2008, click here to register now!
Women Build volunteers will build from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Lunch, tools, and training are provided.
Fundraising
Each individual volunteer supports the Women Build project by becoming a construction worker for a day and raising at least $250 through sponsorships, which help cover the cost of building the home. It’s easy to reach out to friends, family and colleagues through our new online fundraising tool. This tool lets you create your own webpage and solicit donations through e-mail, track donations and much more. You will see how fast the dollars add up to make the walls rise!
Sign up now to become a Women Build volunteer. Simply fill out the registration form and Habitat-NYC will contact you and let you know if space is available.
